URC Sprint Cars return to Big Diamond Speedway plus Modifieds, Crates & Roadrunners on Friday, May 20th

Once again Mother Nature wreaked havoc on Big Diamond Speedway with the postponement of the scheduled Tri-Track Series debut scheduled for last Friday night. With cars in the pits ready to race, the rains came about a half hour before the start of hot laps. Although the rains stopped quickly, the damage to the track surface was done and despite the efforts of the track crew, the track was just too wet thus forcing the cancellation of the night’s events. The Tri-Track series race will be made up on Friday night July 1st in place of the previously scheduled twin 20’s.  Read More..

Ryan Krachun has come so close to winning previously at Big Diamond Speedway. Leading races and losing them in the late stages seemed to way it had gone for Krachun. Not on this night, not only did Krachun lead all 35 laps, but he held his line on the bottom and was able to hold off first Brett Kressley and then Alex Yankowski to take his biggest win of his career along with a $12,000 payday. Jeff Strunk opens 50th Anniversary season at Big Diamond with the win, Talan Carter tops the Crate Sportsman and Andrew Fayash III wins Roadrunners

After getting rained out last Friday for the scheduled opener, last night was perfect April weather as a full field of Insigner Performance Modifieds, USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners on Spin City Night.

By virtue of the draw, Alex Yankowski driving the Stankiewicz No. 2 and Jeff Strunk aboard the Zubi’s Racing No. 88Z brought the 24 car Insigner Performance Modified field down to starter Jeff Merkel’s green flag. Yankowski immediately jumped out to the lead from his pole starting spot. Lap two saw the first yellow displayed for Eddie Strada who spun between turns three and four. Back to green with Yankowski still in front but before the lap could be completed, Frank Cozze brought the yellow back out as he went off the backstretch to a stop. Back to green but not for long as Billy Pauch Jr stopped in turn two with a broken front end requiring a tow truck.   Read More..

Rain postpones opener at Big Diamond, updated schedule for April

It was set-up to be a perfect opening night last Friday at Big Diamond Speedway. With 31 Insigner Performance Modifieds, 27 USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and 17 Red White and Blue Roadrunners on hand and the track groomed to perfection the stage was set. But like in previous years, Mother Nature decided it was not to be and decided to make her presence felt as the teams were on the track for hot laps. As the rain became harder, the cars were sent back to the pits with the hopes that the rain would stop, and the racing could begin. The rain did stop but unfortunately, the track was completely lost and with more rain on the radar the decision was made to postpone opening night.

With Friday’s night postponement, promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley have revamped the schedule for the month of April. Read More..
