Kressley rockets to $17,000 Coalcracker 72 win at Big Diamond, Logan Watt wins Coalcracker 30 Crate Feature  

Brett Kressley may have lost the yearlong war for the points title, but the Orefield, PA wheelman came back with a vengeance to win last night’s Jack Rich Inc, Coalcracker 72 at Big Diamond Speedway which netted Kressley a cool $17,000 pay day. Teenager Logan Watt dominated the USS Achey Crate Sportsman 30-lap Coalcracker feature paying the young driver $1,500 for his efforts.  Read More..

Rain interrupts Coalcracker 72 night at Big Diamond  

With the Crate Sportsman consolation race on the track, Mother Nature decided to throw a wrench into everyone’s party. After one lap was complete, the rains hit the track and hit it hard resulting in the cars being told to head to the pits to wait out the rain. Once the rain stopped, the track crew tried to dry out the track, but the damage had been done. With the high humidity and more rain on the horizon, the hard decision was made to postpone the remainder of the show. With Monday’s forecast not favorable, promoter Jake Smulley made the ultimate decision to have the remainder of the Coalcracker show run next Friday night September 9th. Big Diamond Speedway presents the 2022, $17,000 to win Jack Rich Inc, Coalcracker 72 Sunday Sept 4th

It has been a great season at Big Diamond Speedway. With the exception of the month of May when Mother Nature intervened with rain every Friday. The season has been one of excitement culminating with battle for the 2022 Insigner Performance Modified Championship. The regular season is now complete at the Big Diamond Speedway with Duane Howard winning the Insigner Performance Modified feature, Brandon Edgar taking the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman feature and Alex Schoffstall once again exerted his dominance in the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner feature. 10K Prelude to the Coalcracker victory to Craig Von Dohren, Buccafusca wins Crates  

It was another picture-perfect night for racing last night at Big Diamond Speedway as the Insigner Performance Modifieds ran the annual Prelude to the Coalcracker with a $10,000 payday awaiting the winner.  

Never one to count out when the big money is on the line, “CVD” Craig Von Dohren dominated the action leading most of the race to take the big check home, but it was not without challenges. Danny Buccafusca continued his recent dominance winning the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman feature. The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners ran their Crazy 8’s program with feature wins going to Alex Schoffstall (2), Jim Kost and CJ Ferguson.   Read More..

$10,000 to win “Prelude to the Coalcracker” modified race set for Friday August 19th at Big Diamond Speedway  

With the 2022 season at Big Diamond Speedway starting to wind down, that can only mean one thing! It’s time for the big money shows. This Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway the annual “Prelude to the Coalcracker” race will take place for the Insigner Performance Modifieds. This year’s race will be a 50-lap contest paying the winner a very cool $10,000 to win. Louden Reimert wins first career Big Diamond Modified feature, Mark Smith wires the field in 410 Sprints  

Big Diamond Speedway was the place to be on Friday night! With chamber of commerce weather, it was the perfect night for some racing and the fans came out in droves to support the night as the 410-Winged Sprint cars were on the bill for the night.  

Mark Smith has shown his knack for getting around the Big Diamond Speedway in the past. Smith has won three feature events at Big Diamond in his career while racing with the URC Sprints so it shouldn’t come as a surprise as Smith led wire to wire in winning last night’s 30-lap 410 Sprint car feature. In the Insigner Performance Modified division it was Louden Reimert finally winning his first career modified feature after being so close on numerous occasions. Jordan Henn was the winner of the USS Achey Sportsman feature with Alex Schoffstall once again victorious in the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner class.  Read More..

The mighty 410-Winged Sprint Cars make their only appearance of the year this Friday, August 12th at Big Diamond Speedway  

This Friday night August 12th will be the only appearance of the Winged 410 Sprints in 2022 at Big Diamond Speedway. The 410’s were scheduled to appear back on June 7th but unfortunately the show fell victim to Mother Nature. Rick Laubach back in victory lane at Big Diamond, Buccafusca makes it 3 in a row in the 602 Crates.  

Battling the weather forecast all day long and with other tracks in PA canceling their shows, Big Diamond promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley bucked the trend and decided to go for it and were rewarded with a fantastic night of racing on Dave Kamp Memorial Night.  

After having a rough go of it for most of the season, the “Quaker Shaker” Rick Laubach found himself back in the Red White and Blue Autos victory lane with a dominating performance in the Insigner Performance Modified division. The always hyped-up Danny Buccafusca made it look easy as he rocketed his way to his fourth USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman win. Mike Reichert rebounded after having a couple of bad weeks to win the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner feature with Travis McClelland finding victory lane in the Central PA Legends race.   Read More..

Last Friday night Big Diamond Speedway was once again a victim of Mother Nature when rain forced cancellation of the night activities. This Friday night August 5th, Big Diamond returns with a big night of racing culminating with a $4,000 to win feature event for the Insigner Performance modifieds on Dave Kamp Memorial night. The USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners will also race for some extra cash. Limited Late Models join the action Friday July 29th at Big Diamond Speedway along with Modifieds, Crate Sportsman and Roadrunners  

This Friday night July 29th at Big Diamond Speedway, the Limited Late Models will make the first of two scheduled visits to the Schuylkill Valley dirt oval. The Limited Late Models always put on a good show when the visit Big Diamond and this night should be no different. Last season Andrew Yoder and Travis Mease were victorious in the divisions two visits. The Limited Late Models will race for $1,000 to win with $175 to take the green.  Read More..

Von Dohren outduels Kressley for win at Big Diamond, Buccafusca, Schoffstall and Tyer Bartik all take top honors  

It was a battle for the ages on Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway as rivals Craig Von Dohren and Brett Kressley went at it for the last five laps with Von Dohren coming out on top to take the win in the Insigner Performance 358 Modifieds on S A Comunale night. For the Big Diamond Speedway all-time winner Von Dohren the win capped off a great week which saw the Oley, PA driver being inducted into the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. Danny Buccafusca held off Brandon Edgar to win the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman win. Alex Schoffstall made a late race pass of CJ Ferguson to win the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner feature. Howard (Modifieds) and Satterlee (Late Models) dominate Friday night at Big Diamond, Logan Watt wins Crate feature, Alex Schoffstall wins Roadrunners.

The third time was a charm for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Super Late Model series as they were able to finally make their debut Friday night at Big Diamond after two rainouts. The traveling series brought 19 cars to the track with Greg Satterlee completely dominating the race for the win. The Insigner Performance Modified feature was won by Duane Howard, also in dominating fashion. Logan Watt continued his education in the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman feature race holding off a determined Brandon Edgar for the win with Alex Schoffstall taking top honors in the Red White and Blue Roadrunner feature. Sheppard cruises to Super DIRTCar Series win at Big Diamond, Kevin Olenick wins Crates, Mike Reichert takes Roadrunner victory

 It was a sweeping victory for Matt Sheppard. Sheppard was fast time in time trial group, won his heat race and dominated the 75-lap “Anthracite Assault” for his second win of the year on the traveling series which returned to Big Diamond Speedway for the first time since 2009. SUPERMAN CONTINUES: Sheppard Wins Series’ return to Big Diamond

After a 13-year hiatus from competing at Big Diamond Speedway, the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds finally returned. Super DIRTCar Series returns to Big Diamond Speedway on Tuesday July 12th  

The last time the cars and stars of the Super DIRTCar Series visited Big Diamond Speedway was over a decade ago, 2009 to be exact. On that night, it was a track regular that stole the show as “The Diamond Cutter” Duane Howard drove to victory aboard the Chad Sinon No.  4. Tuesday’s race will be the fourth time the SDS has made the trek to Schuylkill County. Georgie Stevenson Memorial Racer rescheduled for this Friday night July 8th at Big Diamond Speedway, Tri-Track Spec 358 Series, Crate 602 Sportsman, Roadrunners and FIREWORKS on B&H Landscaping Night  

Mother Nature once again threw her ugly head into the everyone’s holiday plans forcing Big Diamond Speedway to cancel with the threats of strong storms last Friday night. Promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley were forced to play it safe on Friday as not to cause unnecessary travel expenses to the race teams.  

With last Friday night being cancelled, the Georgie Stevenson Memorial will take place this coming Friday night July 8th sponsored by B&H Landscaping. The program will remain the same with the exception of the Wingless Super Sportsman not being on the schedule. 7/1/22 We are making the difficult decision to postpone tonight’s race to next Friday night. With heavy rain received early, and an unsettled forecast for tonight we feel it is the best decision. We tried racing many times this race season in iffy weather and it didn’t work out. So we will try again next week. Have a safe and great 4th of July weekend!

Nick Rochinski holds off Howard for first win at Big Diamond, Mark Smith dominates URC  

Nick Rochinski pulled off what Louden Reimert unfortunately could not last week as he held off one of Big Diamond’s best Duane Howard to win the 25-lap Insigner Performance Modified feature on Advance Auto Parts night for his first ever career win at the speedway. Reimert was bidding for his first win last week but could not hold off the charges of Brett Kressley, but Rochinski was able to seal the deal last night in his thrilling win. Mark Smith dominated the 25-lap Capital Renegades URC main event for the win with Logan Watt getting his first of the season in the USS Achey Crate 602 division and Alex Schoffstall once again victorious in the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.   Read More..

In what could only be described as a thriller, Brett Kressley used his veteran savvy to make a last lap pass of Louden Reimert to win the Insigner Performance Modified feature race last night at Big Diamond Speedway. Kressley pocketed $3,000 for the win. Danny Buccafusca became the first driver in the history of the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman at Big Diamond to win back-to-back features as he won the $1,157 Fayash Memorial. For the second year in a row, Duane Howard and the Butch Getz Motorsports No. 15G team won the annual Insigner Performance modified “Topless” race at Big Diamond Speedway as Howard completely dominated the race once he took the lead on lap 14. Brett Kressley wins PA Tri-Track Spec 358 series race at Big Diamond  

After a month-long hiatus due to the weather. The Insigner Performance Modifieds made their return to Big Diamond Speedway as part of the PA Tr-Track Spec 358 series. This was race number two on the series and after the checkered flag flew it was Brett “The Threat” Kressley standing in victory lane winning for the first time this season at Big Diamond. Brandon Edgar held off a stubborn Danny Buccafusca for the win in the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman while Mike Reichert was victorious in the Red White and Blue Roadrunners. 410 Sprints make their 2022 debut Tuesday, June 7th at Big Diamond Speedway  

This Tuesday night June 7th will be the return of the 410-winged sprint cars to Big Diamond Speedway for the first of two visits to the Schuylkill County dirt oval. Last season, the winged beasts returned to Big Diamond after a long absence with Cory Haas taking the win over Mark Smith. PA Modified 358 Tri-Track Series, take two this Friday night June 3rd at Big Diamond Speedway  

Mother Nature has most definitely not been a friend of Big Diamond Speedway in 2022. For the fourth consecutive Friday night rain forced promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley to postpone events at Big Diamond Speedway.  

This Friday night June 3rd, Big Diamond will give it a go one more time as the PA Spec 358 Tri-Track Series is scheduled to make its debut at the Schuylkill Valley track after getting rained out on Friday night May 13th. After rains postponed the first two races of the series at BAPS Motor Speedway and at Big Diamond Speedway the first race of the six-race series was finally completed last night at the Grandview Speedway with Craig Von Dohren taking home the win over Timmy Buckwalter and Jeff Strunk.   Read More..

For the third consecutive Friday night, weather once again forced Big Diamond Speedway to have to cancel their weekly program which featured the URC Sprint cars.

This Friday, May 27th the track will once again give it a go as the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars make their only scheduled visit to Big Diamond in 2022. This series has grown exponentially over the past few years with their exciting brand of wingless racing. Read More..

URC Sprint Cars return to Big Diamond Speedway plus Modifieds, Crates & Roadrunners on Friday, May 20th  

Once again Mother Nature wreaked havoc on Big Diamond Speedway with the postponement of the scheduled Tri-Track Series debut scheduled for last Friday night. With cars in the pits ready to race, the rains came about a half hour before the start of hot laps. Although the rains stopped quickly, the damage to the track surface was done and despite the efforts of the track crew, the track was just too wet thus forcing the cancellation of the night’s events. The Tri-Track series race will be made up on Friday night July 1st in place of the previously scheduled twin 20’s.  Read More..

PA Spec 358 Tri-Track Series to debut Friday, May 13 at Big Diamond Speedway  

With the original debut of the PA Spec 358 Tri-Track Series previously rained out at BAPS Speedway, the first race on the series now shifts to The Big Diamond Speedway on Friday, May 13th.  

The PA Spec 358 Tri-Track Series is a joint venture between BAPS Speedway, Grandview Speedway (through The Thunder on the Hill promotions) and Big Diamond Speedway under the direction of Kolten Gouse, Jake and Jasmine Smulley and Bob Miller with a goal to provide a unified series for the many PA/NJ 358 spec small blocks in the area. The series will pay a point fund at the end of the season with the hopes that the series will prosper and grow into a yearly series.   Read More..

Rain forces Big Diamond to cancel Friday May 6th. ULMS Super Late Models rescheduled  

Due to the forecast for Friday May 6th with heavy rains expected to pummel Schuylkill County most of the day, the program for this Friday night has been cancelled.  

This is the second year in a row that the Zimmers Service Center ULMS Super Late Models event has been postponed due to rain. Fortunately, Big Diamond promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley along with the ULMS management team have been able to come up with a suitable date for both to reschedule this much anticipated event. The new date for the ULMS Super Late Models show at Big Diamond Speedway will be Friday night July 15th.   Read More..

Taking full advantage of an upfront starting spot, the Big Diamond career wins leader Craig Von Dohren dominated the 25-lap Insigner Performance modified feature to win on Tony’s Meat Market night. Ryan Krachun gets first ever win at Big Diamond Speedway winning the Money in the Mountains. Brandon Edgar and Alex Schoffstall also victorious

Ryan Krachun has come so close to winning previously at Big Diamond Speedway. Leading races and losing them in the late stages seemed to way it had gone for Krachun. Not on this night, not only did Krachun lead all 35 laps, but he held his line on the bottom and was able to hold off first Brett Kressley and then Alex Yankowski to take his biggest win of his career along with a $12,000 payday. $12,000 to win Money in the Mountains Race Friday April 22 at Big Diamond  

The stage is set, after a highly successful season opener last Friday at Big Diamond Speedway won by Jeff Strunk. The Insigner Performance Modifieds will race their first high paying race of the season with the annual running of the Fritz Roehrig Memorial “Money in the Mountains” race this Friday April 22nd. Jeff Strunk opens 50th Anniversary season at Big Diamond with the win, Talan Carter tops the Crate Sportsman and Andrew Fayash III wins Roadrunners 

After getting rained out last Friday for the scheduled opener, last night was perfect April weather as a full field of Insigner Performance Modifieds, USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners on Spin City Night. 

By virtue of the draw, Alex Yankowski driving the Stankiewicz No. 2 and Jeff Strunk aboard the Zubi’s Racing No. 88Z brought the 24 car Insigner Performance Modified field down to starter Jeff Merkel’s green flag. Yankowski immediately jumped out to the lead from his pole starting spot. Lap two saw the first yellow displayed for Eddie Strada who spun between turns three and four. Back to green with Yankowski still in front but before the lap could be completed, Frank Cozze brought the yellow back out as he went off the backstretch to a stop. Back to green but not for long as Billy Pauch Jr stopped in turn two with a broken front end requiring a tow truck.   Read More..

Rain postpones opener at Big Diamond, updated schedule for April

 It was set-up to be a perfect opening night last Friday at Big Diamond Speedway. With 31 Insigner Performance Modifieds, 27 USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and 17 Red White and Blue Roadrunners on hand and the track groomed to perfection the stage was set. But like in previous years, Mother Nature decided it was not to be and decided to make her presence felt as the teams were on the track for hot laps. As the rain became harder, the cars were sent back to the pits with the hopes that the rain would stop, and the racing could begin. The rain did stop but unfortunately, the track was completely lost and with more rain on the radar the decision was made to postpone opening night.

With Friday’s night postponement, promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley have revamped the schedule for the month of April. Read More..

50th Season of Competition at Big Diamond set to start on Friday, April 8th on Spin City Night  

Friday, April 8th will see a new season of racing get underway at the Big Diamond Speedway as the track embarks on their 50th year of competition. Opening night will feature the Insigner Performance Modifieds racing 25 laps for a first-place prize of $4,000. The USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman will go 20 laps for $1,000. Rounding out the racing card on opening night will be the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners with $400 going to the winner of their main event.   Read More..

Pennsylvania modified fans can’t help reminiscing about the former Tri-Track Sportsman Modified Tour that dominated the early 1990s.
